ACCIONA has been selected for inclusion on the Dow Jones Sustainability World Index (DJSI World) for the ninth successive year, and for the third time in the Electric Utilities industry, following the results of an evaluation carried out by RobecoSAM in 2015. In comparison with the previous year, ACCIONA has improved both its overall score and its rating in the three dimensions studied (economic, social and environmental), consolidating the trend of improvement since it joined the index in the Electric Utilities industry.
ACCIONA’s presence on the DJSI World ratifies its determination to be at the forefront in the implementation of corporate sustainability practices, structured through its Sustainability Master Plan 2015 (SMP 2015).
Within the Economic Dimension, we would highlight the high scores obtained in the Risk Management criteria. In the Environmental Dimension, ACCIONA continues to stand out for its policies on Biodiversity and is recognized for its commitment to Electricity Generation based on renewable energies. The company received the highest possible score in these criteria. Within the Social Dimension, it is worth mentioning the improvement in the company’s scores in Human Capital Development, as well as in the Stakeholder Engagement criterion; the latter thanks to the application of the Social Impact Management methodology to ACCIONA’s projects in recent years.
The 3,470 largest companies in the world were invited to take part in the DJSI review for 2015. Of these, 1,845 went through the evaluation process. Finally the DJSI World comprises 317 components, and the new composition–which accredits companies that demonstrate the best sustainability criteria in the world- will come into effect on September 21st this year.
