Renfe has awarded ACCIONA the contract to provide traveller services, access control, club lounges and incident management at railway stations in Aragon, Valencia, Catalonia, Murcia, Navarra, the Basque Country, Castilla la Mancha, Castilla León, Galicia, Asturias and Cantabria. The two-year contract, with a possible two-year extension, is worth €15.4 million in total.
ACCIONA will provide services at 35 railway stations which handle 150 million passengers per year, including some of the key stations in Spain's rail network, such as Sants station in Barcelona, Joaquín Sorolla station in Valencia and Delicias station in Zaragoza.
The services awarded to ACCIONA include traveller check-in and train access control, managing club lounges, public address systems, traveller information desks, and providing last-minute services, both on-site and via Twitter.
The contract builds on ACCIONA's existing relationship with Renfe in the delivery of ancillary services, since the company is currently in charge of cleaning Renfe facilities at a range of locations in Spain, including offices, workshops, commuter trains and stations, warehouses and logistics centres, as well as ticketing at a number of stations.
ACCIONA has solid experience in delivering ground services in passenger transport, with clients such as AENA, for which it staffs information desks at El Prat airport and provides a personal shopper service at Adolfo Suárez-Barajas airport. In the area of passenger services, ACCIONA has over 20 years' experience in handling at airports, with a client portfolio comprising more than 100 airlines.
