ACCIONA is helping to publicise the One Million Commitment campaign in connection with climate change, by contributing to the challenge to obtain one million commitments from individuals, companies and institutions committed to taking action against climate change.

One million commitments for the climate is an initiative sponsored by Spain's Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Environment. The aim is to present, at the COP21 in Paris in December this year, the individual and collective commitments to act on the climate, so as to show how urgent it is to implement a sufficiently ambitious emissions reduction goal to avoid the worst ecological and social impacts of climate change.

At ACCIONA our commitment (see #PorElClima) is:

  • To reduce or mitigate the adverse effects of climate change.
  • To reduce greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, primarily by using renewable energy sources.
  • To promote energy savings.
  • To respond to global demand for renewable energy, sustainable infrastructure, water and services.

The twenty-first edition of the UN Conference of Parties on Climate Change (COP21), to be held in Paris in December 2015, will host representatives from 198 countries, with the aim of achieving a new universal and binding convention, with a view to keeping global warming below 2ºC.
