12-year contract: The supply will come from the Ayora I-II-III photovoltaic complex in Jarafuel (Valencia), currently under development
ACCIONA Energía has signed a power purchase agreement (PPA) with DaVita, leading medical services provider specialized in dialysis and kidney care services, to supply it with 100% renewable electricity in Spain for 12 years.
The electricity will come from the Ayora I-II-III photovoltaic complex (85,74 MWp), currently under development in the municipality of Jarafuel in Valencia (Spain), that will begin operations in 2025.
Through this agreement, DaVita will achieve a more sustainable energy model and advance its decarbonization goals. The company has 2,675 outpatient dialysis centers in the United States and 367 centers located in 11 other countries worldwide, and it has committed to cut greenhouse gas emissions by 50% by 2030 and achieve net zero emissions by 2050.
"At DaVita, we have a deep sense of responsibility to help make our world, and those we care for within it, better,” said Misha Palecek, Chief Transformation Officer for DaVita. "Expanding our renewable commitment across our global operations accelerates momentum and accountability to help mitigate the lasting impacts of climate change.”
Meanwhile, ACCIONA Energía consolidates its position as a strategic partner for DaVita's decarbonization and continues to increase the volume of new supply contracts and medium- and long-term PPAs to corporate customers, thereby maintaining a balanced portfolio in non-regulated generation assets.
"We are very pleased to have DaVita in this project”, said Javier Montes, Commercial Director at ACCIONA Energía. “With long-term PPAs such as this one, we accompany our customers through their decarbonization journey, enhancing sustainability in their operations and helping them reach their renewable energy goals.”
