ACCIONA completed its first venture in Peru, the Majes-Arequipa Valley hydroelectric and irrigation project, in 1974. Activity in Peru commenced again approximately a decade ago when the company was awarded several water projects, and ACCIONA Forwarding introduced its logistics solutions. The company has completed notable water treatment projects there, including the Talara desalination plant and the La Chira, Arqeuipa waste water treatment plants and several water service contracts in Lima. ACCIONA is currently building the Daniel Alcides Carrión Hospital and the Pucallpa penitentiary.

    Projects

    La Chira Water Treatment Plant

    La Chira Water Treatment Plant

The contract includes the design, construction, financing, operation and maintenance and will provide water treatment services to approximately 25% of the wastewater from the Peruvian capital, servicing 2.5 million people. The plant will have an average water treatment capacity of 6.3 m/s. In addition, the plant will allow the environmental restoration of the currently contaminated beach areas, thereby increasing its use as a source of recreation and tourism.

    Arequipa sewage plant

    Arequipa sewage plant

The sewage plant has the capacity to treat 34,800 m3/day, serving an equivalent population of 150,000 people. It reduces the pollution load by 90% and helps to decontaminate the Chili River, while also enabling water to be reused for agricultural purposes.

    Pucallpa penitentiary

    Pucallpa penitentiary

This project involves the extension of the Pucallpa penitentiary, a project which began in August 2014. The objective is to expand on the building to accommodate 1,120 additional men and 120 more women. This project created 400 jobs.

    Talara seawater desalination plant

    Talara seawater desalination plant

Northern Peru is an arid area with scant water resources; consequently, building a desalination plant is a good solution. The Talara seawater desalination plant is the first industrial reverse osmosis plant built in Peru. It has a desalination capacity of 2,200 m3/day.
