The object of the contract is to enhance delivery of drinking water by improving service continuity and the amount and quality of the water that is supplied. ACCIONA will invest 100 million euros in the concession, more than 80 million of which will be allocated to upgrading water infrastructure.
Another notable feature of the contract is an improvement in network efficiency to reduce the sizeable water losses arising in the system, thereby enhancing the environmental impact.
Customer management will involve a transparent round-the-clock information service backed by state-of-the-art computing and communication technologies.
The contract will be managed by a joint venture — Compañía de Agua de Boca (CAB) — comprising the Boca del Río city government (2%), ACCIONA Agua (69%) and Malibran (29%), with ACCIONA Agua acting as technology partner.
ACCIONA opened its first offices in Mexico, belonging to the Infrastructure division, in 1978. The country is now one of ACCIONA's main markets outside Spain, and the company's various business areas are working on a number of major projects there.
