The consortium between ACCIONA and the local company BRK, has been awarded the contract for the concession for treated water distribution and sewerage services in 155 municipalities of Pernambuco, Northeast Brazil.

The concession has a duration of 35 years and aims to expand and modernize sanitation and water supply infrastructure, ensuring treated water as well as the collection and treatment of wastewater for nearly seven million inhabitants.

The consortium is responsible for water distribution and the collection and treatment of wastewater in the covered municipalities, while the production and sale of treated water remain the responsibility of the Pernambuco Sanitation Company.

The initiative, aligned with the objectives of Pernambuco’s New Legal Framework for the Integrated Water Cycle, seeks to meet the established targets of universalizing access to water to 99% and sewerage services to 90% by 2033.
