ACCIONA has participated in the "Workplace Learning for Higher Vocational Training in Construction" project, an initiative led by SEOPAN together with ten of Spain's leading construction companies and the Construction Labour Foundation (FLC), which has been recognized with the 2026 Vocational Training Excellence Award, presented by the Bertelsmann Foundation and the CEOE Foundation.

The company has been involved from the outset in the design and development of the program, created to address one of the main challenges arising from Spain's new Vocational Training Law: integrating first-year vocational training students into workplace-based learning periods.

The project is aimed at first-year students enrolled in Higher Vocational Training programs in Building Construction, Civil Engineering, and Construction Site Organization and Control. It combines online and in-person learning, enabling students to acquire fundamental knowledge in health and safety, digitalization, and technical tools before entering real work environments.

A Collective Response to a Shared Challenge

The project was launched within SEOPAN's Training Committee in response to the need to adapt the Dual Vocational Training model to the specific characteristics of the construction sector, where safety requirements and the complexity of work environments make the integration of students with limited previous experience particularly challenging. Rather than developing individual solutions, the participating companies opted for a coordinated, sector-wide approach together with educational institutions and the Construction Labour Foundation, creating a shared model for mentoring, training, and student support.

More Than 147 Students Trained and a Growing Model

Following an initial pilot phase in the Community of Madrid, the program trained 147 students and achieved a 97% success rate, enabling its expansion to additional educational institutions and autonomous communities. Since the project began in 2025, ACCIONA has played an active role in student guidance and mentoring activities, helping students gain first-hand insight into careers related to construction and infrastructure.

Building Future Professionals

Beyond facilitating compliance with the new regulations, the project pursues a broader objective: helping attract and develop technical talent for the construction sector. The initiative enables students to engage with companies, professionals, and real work environments from the early stages of their training, helping them better understand the different career paths available and supporting a smoother transition from education to employment.

The award recognizes the value of collaboration between companies, educational institutions, and sector organizations in developing shared solutions that improve the quality of vocational training and help prepare the professionals who will build the infrastructure of the future.
