    Concessions

Over 150 years of experience in concessions

A concession is an instrument for long-term collaboration and association between the government and the private sector in order to execute certain infrastructure projects. By means of a concession, the government grants a right to a private company to design, build, renovate, finance, manage or maintain an infrastructure, and to provide a service for a specific period of time in exchange for a financial consideration provided by the government itself or the end users.

ACCIONA is one of the leading companies in the private development of infrastructures worldwide, both in terms of number of projects and turnover. This company has the accumulated experience of 39 concessions down through its history, based on a team with a global focus that is fully tuned in to local needs and peculiarities. At present, it manages a portfolio of 17 concessions distributed around Spain, Canada, Mexico, Chile, Australia, New Zealand and Brazil, and in the sectors of transport infrastructure (roads, railways, ports and irrigation), social infrastructure and healthcare (hospitals, universities and university residences), sustainability (Waste-to-energy, Smart Cities, efficient district heating and cooling, etc. ) and telecommunications and industry (transmission lines, data centres...)

The experience of ACCIONA in the execution of road and motorway concessions encompasses over 800 km of road constructed around the world, including countries such as Canada, Chile, Brazil, Spain, Andorra, Australia and New Zealand. These projects include different construction challenges such as important viaducts and tunnels.

    SUSTAINABILITY

    SUSTAINABILITY

Sustainability is part of ACCIONA’s DNA and its concessions business is expanding its activities into non-traditional areas related to projects that contribute to sustainability. This area therefore encompasses the search for business opportunities such as efficient district heating and cooling; the waste-to-energy sector; or the world of Smart cities and urban mobility.
