  • The project aims to address the high demand for travel between Brisbane and the Gold Coast in anticipation of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.

ACCIONA has been awarded, as part of the ActivUs consortium, the contract to design and build the major works package as part of the AUD 5.75 billion Logan and Gold Coast (LGC) Faster Rail project.

ACCIONA and its partners -CPB Contractors, UGL, SMEC, and WSP- will collaborate with the Queensland Department of Transport and Main Roads and Queensland Rail to deliver this project, which will improve the efficiency and frequency of public transportation in the city’s south-east. The project aims to meet the high demand for travel between Brisbane and the Gold Coast ahead of the 2032 Brisbane Olympic and Paralympic Games.

This sustainable transportation solution will provide easier access to high-frequency rail services by upgrading stations and improving pedestrian and cyclist connections, while increasing safety and reducing traffic congestion by eliminating level crossings.

Major rail works include doubling the number of tracks from two to four between Kuraby and Beenleigh; modern and accessible station upgrades including improved park and ride facilities; s- and the removal of level crossings at Woodridge, Bethania and Holmview. Improvements will also be made to the current railway system.

Site establishment activities and early works are planned to commence in the first half of 2026, ahead of major construction works starting later next year.
