  • Recognition in the Valor 1000 ranking reinforces ACCIONA’s leadership in large-scale, highly complex projects in Brazil, where it has been operating for almost 30 years.

ACCIONA, a global leader in sustainable solutions, was named the best company in the Construction and Engineering sector for the third consecutive year in the annual Valor 1000 ranking, compiled by the newspaper Valor Econômico. The awards ceremony was held on September 8 at Hotel Unique in São Paulo. ACCIONA was also listed among the best-performing and largest companies by sector in the Southeast region.

The recognition comes as ACCIONA continues to expand its operations in Brazil. Among its major projects is São Paulo Metro Line 6-Orange, the largest infrastructure project in Latin America, with investment of more than R$19 billion. The line will be 15.3 kilometers long, with 15 stations, and once completed is expected to carry up to 633,000 passengers per day. ACCIONA will operate the line for 19 years.

The company has also been expanding its presence in the water and sanitation sector. In Pernambuco, ACCIONA, in consortium with BRK Ambiental, signed a contract to provide water supply and sanitary sewerage services. This project adds to the public-private partnerships (PPPs) for sanitary sewerage services in 48 municipalities in Paraná and urban sanitation services in eight municipalities in Espírito Santo.

More recently, the company secured a public-private partnership to provide sanitation services in 85 municipalities in Paraíba, covering an estimated population of 1.7 million people. Planned investment totals R$3 billion, and the contract will run for 25 years.

The company was also contracted by the City of São Paulo to build the road segment between Avenida Jornalista Roberto Marinho and Rodovia dos Imigrantes, a project that forms part of one of the main corridors connecting the capital with the coast of São Paulo state

Operating in Brazil since 1997, ACCIONA has delivered landmark projects such as Terminal 2 at the Port of Açu in Rio de Janeiro and the transformation of the historic Júlio Prestes Station in São Paulo into a world-class concert hall.
