  • The measures will significantly increase the wastewater treatment capacity of the Tróia peninsula, providing a service to a population equivalent of 16,500 with an average flow of 4,356 m³/day.

ACCIONA has completed the refurbishment and extension of the Tróia wastewater treatment plant (WWTP) in Grândola (Portugal). The project, carried out for TROIARESORT, a tourism and residential complex located on the Tróia peninsula, includes the civil works, technology, and return to service of the plant.

ACCIONA will also undertake the operation and maintenance of the WWTP for the first six months. Other partners in the project are the Town Council of Grândola, INFRATROIA and the companies TPF and PROGESTEAM, which have supervised the works.

The measures will significantly increase the wastewater treatment capacity of the Tróia peninsula, providing a service to a population equivalent of 16,500 with an average flow of 4,356 m³/day.

The plant incorporates membrane bioreactor (MBR) technology to produce regenerated water that can be used on golf courses and other green areas in the complex, thereby contributing to the protection of local ecosystems.

The new infrastructure represents a major step forward in the sustainable management of water in the area by strengthening the ability to deal with water shortages and supporting the sustainable development of one of the main tourism destinations in Portugal.

Through this project, ACCIONA reaffirms its commitment to sustainable water management through innovative solutions that contribute to optimising water resources and making progress towards a more circular and resilient operating model.
