• ACCIONA now operates 10,000 shared electric motorcycles, the largest fleet worldwide
  • To celebrate this achievement, the ACCIONA motosharing service will be available free of charge on June 11th in those cities where it is already established
  • ACCIONA’s motorcycles have collectively avoided the emission of 1,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, the equivalent of the amount that 100,000 cars produce in one day

ACCIONA has increased its network of electric motorcycles to 10,000 units, to contribute to the new urban mobility needs that are arising after the Covid-19 crisis. This expansion makes ACCIONA the world's largest motosharing operator by number of vehicles. The shared transport Service operates in Madrid, Barcelona, Valencia, Seville, Zaragoza, Lisbon and Milan.

To celebrate becoming the world’s leading shared motorcycle group, ACCIONA will offer its services for free on June 11th both for existing and new users that register on the app.

Since its launch in October 2018, ACCIONA's mobility service has prevented the emission of 1,000 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere, the equivalent of the amount that 100,000 cars generate in one day.

The use of these shared motorcycles has also freed up 36 hectares of public space on a daily basis. Over this year and half, the overall number of kilometers that users have collectively traveled along using these vehicles is equivalent to going around the earth 300 times.

ACCIONA's motosharing service offers citizens a safe and sustainable transport alternative, as it helps to avoid overcrowding in public transport, while at the same time decongesting urban spaces previously taken up by private vehicles. In addition, it reduces emissions from the use of private cars with combustion engines.

ACCIONA has established a thorough daily sanitization protocol for all its motorcycles, developed in line with indications from national and local health authorities.

Every unit is equipped with cleaning wipes for the designated contact areas, including the handlebars. Also available are disposable helmet nets and a hydroalcoholic hand-gel to be applied before and after every use. The ACCIONA Mobility app includes self-protection and hygiene recommendations as well as information on the proper use of the vehicles.

To guarantee the complete disinfection of the units and the daily replacement of individual personal protection equipment, the service’s timetable schedule - which prior to the pandemic was 24/7 – will run from 6 a.m. to 2 a.m.

In order to contribute to traffic decongestion and to transition towards a new urban normality, apart from increasing its number of units, ACCIONA has also expanded the area of operation to surrounding urban metropolitan localities that it did not reach before. In Madrid, the service is now available in Pozuelo, Montecarmelo, Alameda de Osuna, Alcobendas and San Sebastián de los Reyes. In Seville: Bormujos, Dos Hermanas, Ginés, San Juan de Aznalfarache, Castilleja de la Cuesta and Tomares have been included in the service.

Functioning and Service

The motorbikes have a performance equivalent to 125cc and offer two modes of driving which adapt to both inner city transit as well as fast roads, reaching up to 100Km/h on these.

To access this service, users must register on the ACCIONA Mobility app and then validate their information contact details. Once registered, users are given access to the exact location of the motorcycles that are available for reservation. The available units may be used all over the city, but must be parked and left in the designated areas shown on the app’s map.
