- The project has been awarded by the ACI in the Bridges category
The cable-stayed Cebu bridge (CCLEX), built by ACCIONA in the Philippines, has been awarded in the Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards , organized by the American Concrete Institute (ACI).
The purpose of these awards is to celebrate innovation and inspire excellence throughout the global community dedicated to concrete design and construction.
Built by the Cebu Link Joint Venture (CLJV)—a consortium of PCA members ACCIONA, First Balfour, Inc., and D.M. Consunji, Inc.—the CCLEX stands as a testament to Filipino engineering excellence and collaboration on the global stage.
Construction of the iconic bridge began in July 2018 and officially opened to traffic in April 2022. The project utilized over 185,000 cubic meters of concrete and 33,000 kilograms of steel, with mix designs rooted in the principles of sustainability, durability, timeliness, and localization.
This latest international recognition follows CCLEX’s previous wins at the Philippine Excellence in Concrete Construction Awards (PECCA)—where it was named Overall Winner and Bridge Category Winner in 2024, and Infrastructure Category Winner in 2023.
