  • Within the framework of this event, ACCIONA and ITBOCA signed an agreement to promote technical training in water management

On Thursday, ACCIONA held the 2nd Sustainability and Social Management Conference in Veracruz. The conference was organized in conjunction with the Boca del Río Institute of Technology (ITBOCA), the Boca del Río Municipal Water Company (CAB), the Metropolitan Water and Sanitation Group (MAS Group) and the TecNM (Tecnológico Nacional de México).

The conference was inaugurated by Boca del Río’s mayor, Juan Manuel Unánue, and the main objective was to highlight the company’s sustainability and social management initiatives within its infrastructure projects in Mexico.

These initiatives include the rehabilitation of schools to ensure basic energy, water, and sanitation conditions. Since 2021, this initiative has supported nearly 20 schools in the Veracruz, Medellín de Bravo and Boca del Río municipalities, benefiting over 2,500 students. Activities to raise environmental awareness have also been carried out, including those related to the protection of sea turtles, a highly protected species in Mexico.

During the conference, company managers shared their insights on sustainability trends in the sector, as well as the role of social management in infrastructure development. Acciona.org unveiled one of its initiatives in the country, aimed at guaranteeing access to water for the most disadvantaged populations.

Similarly, ACCIONA partners, including ITBOCA, the Engineering Institute of the University of Veracruz, and the Association for Diversity and Equity of Mexican Women (ADEMM), highlighted the importance of strategic alliances for vulnerable communities.

To conclude the event, the Water business of ACCIONA and the Boca del Río Institute of Technology signed a cooperation agreement providing for the transfer of technical knowledge through training and offering students from this center the opportunity to gain work experience at the company’s facilities.
