ACCIONA has been awarded the contract for the operation and technical assistance of the Monegros Sur Sector XIII-A Irrigation Community in Zaragoza. The community is part of the General Irrigation Community of Alto Aragón and covers 1,700 hectares of irrigated farmland in the municipalities of La Almolda and Pina de Ebro, serving 230 farmers.

The system is based on a modernized, on-demand pressurized irrigation system supplied by regulating reservoirs. It also includes an approximately 1 MWp solar photovoltaic facility designed to cover a significant share of the energy required for its operation.

This model helps optimize agricultural water use through more efficient, flexible, and sustainable resource management.

With this contract, ACCIONA strengthens its position as a leader in the operation of irrigation infrastructure, bringing its experience in integrated water cycle management and the implementation of advanced technological solutions.

EXPERIENCE

ACCIONA currently manages more than 30,000 hectares of irrigated farmland in Spain, serves more than 12,000 farmers, and is responsible for more than 80 hm³ of water for agriculture per year. The company provides operation and maintenance services for irrigation communities in several provinces, including Ciudad Real, Córdoba, Granada, Guadalajara, and Zaragoza, covering water intake, storage, pumping, and distribution infrastructure for irrigation.
