ACCIONA has launched the ninth edition of its I’MNOVATION program, a global open-innovation initiative that fosters collaboration with startups worldwide to develop solutions that can be deployed across its projects in infrastructure, water, energy, construction, and services.
The company has set out nine challenges developed in collaboration with its Construction, Water, and Concessions businesses, as well as support functions such as HR and Procurement. The challenges target startups, scale-ups, and spin-offs from knowledge institutions and research centers that can bring technology solutions applicable to real projects and suitable for validation in operating environments. The call for applications will remain open until april 30, 2026.
Applications will be assessed by ACCIONA’s technical and innovation teams, which will select those with the greatest potential for deployment across its operations. After the winning proposals are chosen, the responsible teams will run pilot projects with ACCIONA professionals to validate them on active projects and assess their potential for broader rollout. Selected teams will receive financial support for pilot co-development, guidance from a team of expert mentors, and access to networking opportunities with the program’s participating teams.
This year’s edition will prioritize solutions based on artificial intelligence, advanced analytics, automation, efficient water management, the circular economy, energy efficiency, new materials, and smart infrastructure.
Since it launched in 2017, ACCIONA’s I’MNOVATION program has become a cornerstone of the company’s open-innovation efforts, connecting entrepreneurial talent with real business challenges and working with more than 65 startups from different countries.
I’MNOVATION is part of ACCIONA’s innovation strategy, aimed at accelerating the sustainable and digital transformation of its businesses.
