- The network is a critical asset for ensuring reliable, secure electricity supply in Peru’s Tumbes region
Through its Concessions business, ACCIONA has announced the start of commercial operation of one of its power transmission projects in Peru: the “SE Nueva Tumbes 220/60 kV – 75 MVA and 60 kV Nueva Tumbes–Tumbes Line” network, a critical piece of infrastructure for power supply continuity and security in the Tumbes region.
Commissioned by Peru’s Ministry of Energy and Mines (MINEM), the project will benefit 246,000 people and, importantly, prevent overloading at the aging Zorritos substation while meeting projected growth in local electricity demand over the next 15 years. To that end, a new 220/60/22.9 kV substation has been built, along with a 2.4-kilometer transmission line. This will strengthen system stability and reduce the risk of service interruptions.
