ACCIONA has completed the assembly of its own segment factory at its machinery center in Noblejas (Toledo). The new facility, which is already up and running, will serve the company’s subway projects and enable absolute control over the entire process, thus optimizing the quality of the tunnel lining structures produced there.

During the assembly and commissioning phases, ACCIONA implemented 100% decarbonized solutions in line with its Decarbonization Plan for the Construction business and the environmental strategy for its work sites. The production plant will be powered by 100 kWp of self-generated solar energy, topped up as and when needed with certified green energy from the power grid, arranged through ACCIONA Energía.

The company will also use renewable biofuel, known as Hydrotreated Vegetable Oil (HVO), for all mobile equipment used in its daily operations, as well as the steam boiler. Moreover, construction machinery running entirely on electric power will be used, including a 20-ton wheel loader for transporting aggregates for concrete production and a five-ton telehandler for logistics and load-handling tasks.

Thanks to these initiatives, ACCIONA has set up a truly groundbreaking, fully decarbonized concrete segment production center.
