ACCIONA begins work on the expansion of the Port of Tazacorte on the island of La Palma

Fernando Clavijo Batlle, President of the Canary Islands Government, laid the project's first stone

ACCIONA has begun extending the existing counter-breakwater that protects the Port of Tazacorte, on the island of La Palma. The project involves extending one section to a total length of 102 meters and constructing a second, perpendicular 28-meter section.

President Fernando Clavijo attended the event together with other local and regional authorities. The attendees marked the start of the works with the laying of the first stone. The project is promoted by the public business entity Puertos Canarios, attached to the Canary Islands Government's Department of Public Works, Housing and Mobility.

ACCIONA will also reuse material from a partially demolished existing breakwater to build the counter-breakwater's protective armor layer, rockfill berm and slope. The project will also include the installation of safety and operational equipment.

The expansion of the Port of Tazacorte will reduce the impact of waves and facilitate vessel berthing, improving services for fishing, recreational boating and tourism activities on the island known as "La Isla Bonita". This project reflects ACCIONA's commitment to sustainable development and the continuous improvement of port infrastructure with a strong social impact.
