ACCIONA Energía's fourth wind farm in Australia, fully operational since August 2018. The Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm has a capacity of 132MW and produces enough clean energy to power 90,000 Australian homes.

Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm is located 25km east of Colac, built around the southern and western sides of Mt Gellibrand itself. 

Construction commenced in April 2017, with the first electricity generated in June 2018.

GENERAL INFORMATION

  • Location: South-west Victoria, approximately 25 kilometres east of Colac and 17 kilometres west of Winchelsea
  • Capacity: 132MW
  • Structure: 44 x 3MW turbines
  • Operational since: August 2018
  • Grid connection: connected to the 66kV Powercor Terang-Geelong transmission line via a new terminal station
  • Tip Height: Up to 150m

  • Project Investment: $258M AUD investment
  • CO2 emission benefit: 412,000t of CO2 emissions avoided per year (in coal-fired power stations)
  • Over 100 construction jobs and approximately 10 permanent full-time roles on site, plus seasonal contracting opportunities

COMMUNITY BENEFITS

The Mt Gellibrand Wind Farm Small Grants Program has been supporting the community for twelve years now, contributing over $600,000 in funding to local initiatives since it first began in 2012.  The wind farm’s Scholarship Program benefits students making the transition from secondary to tertiary education. $60,000 in grants have been awarded since 2018.
