Design and construction of a new : 4-lane dual carriageway road, interchanges, a bridge, a cycle path, and a pedestrian path.

ACCIONA (60%), in a joint venture with Georgiou Group (40%), is delivering the design and construction of the Coomera Connector Stage 1 North package from Coomera to Helensvale.

With a total investment of AU$2.593 billion (€1.6 million), the North Coomera Connector will be 4 km long.

 

The project will improve the safety and efficiency of the network, increasing capacity and traffic flow, as well as reducing both travel time and queuing at interchanges.

The project scope of works includes:

  • A new 4-lane, dual carriageway, arterial road with provision for future widening into the centre median to 6-lanes.
  • Grade separated interchanges at Shipper Drive and Helensvale Road.
  • An almost 1km-long bridge over the Coomera River and Saltwater Creek.
  • Upgrades to a section of Foxwell Road and a section of Shipper Drive (known as Coomera Link Road).
  • A new shared bike and pedestrian path with local path network connections.

HIGHTLIGHTS

  • Close to 500 bridge girders to be installed on the new Coomera River bridge.
  • 177 piles installed on the new Coomera River bridge and overflow bridge.
  • Close to 5,000 controlled modulus columns to be installed to stabilise ground conditions.
  • 6km of noise barriers to be installed.
