On March 16, 2023, the shovel was officially dug in for the construction of the Opatów bypass.

The project, valued at €90 million, was awarded in 2021 to ACCIONA - in consortium with its Polish subsidiary Mostostal Warszawa - by Poland’s General Directorate for National Roads and Highways

Once opened to traffic, the Opatów ring road, wich will run through the communes of Opatów, Lipnik and Sadowie, will free the city from transit traffic, improve the quality of life of the residents as well as the safety and comfort of travellers. The bypass will be an important section of the planned S74 expressway, which will connect the Łódź, Świętokrzyskie and Podkarpackie voivodships. This is another task that Mostostal Warszawa is carrying out in this region.

The symbolic groundbreaking ceremony was attended by, among others, Rafał Weber - Secretary of State in the Ministry of Infrastructure and Krzysztof Strzelczyk - Director of the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways in Kielce, as well as parliamentarians from the region and representatives of the local government.

The project

The Opatow ring road will include two sections, 5.1 and 6.7 kilometers long, respectively. The company will build two new interchanges, as well as various engineering structures (overpasses, viaducts, bridges, animal crossings and culverts), access roads, environmental protection devices, including acoustic screens, pedestrian and cycling infrastructure, lighting and drainage, and road safety devices. The bypass is expected to be opened to traffic during 2026.
