  • Located near IFEMA-Valdebebas, the circuit is 5.4 kilometers long with 22 turns

The consortium led by ACCIONA (60%) together with Eiffage Construcción (40%) has completed the construction of the Madrid Formula 1 circuit in just twelve months, ensuring it will be ready to host the Spanish Formula 1 Grand Prix from the 11th to 13th of September this year. This project will make Madrid the new epicenter of international motorsports.

Located near IFEMA-Valdebebas, the circuit is 5.4 kilometers long with 22 turns, and its construction entailed a major technical and logistical challenge due to the need to fully integrate it into the city’s urban layout and the fairgrounds’ land. In addition, the construction speed marked a record for sports infrastructure projects of this complexity.

Key milestones included high-performance asphalt surfaces, the integration of mobility solutions and urban restoration after each race, and the implementation of sustainable technologies aimed at minimizing the carbon footprint.

The consortium’s ability to coordinate multiple disciplines has enabled the smooth execution of this complex infrastructure, ensuring that construction work remained compatible with IFEMA’s usual operations.

Unlike traditional F1 circuits, this one stands out for its versatility, enabling full accessibility via public transportation and the rapid withdrawal of auxiliary facilities after each race.

SUSTAINABILITY LEADER

ACCIONA’s commitment to developing responsible and innovative infrastructure has been evident throughout all phases of the project’s design and execution, during which sustainability criteria were applied, prioritizing the optimization of resources and materials, the reduction of noise and environmental impact, the integration of the circuit into its urban surroundings, and the reversibility of temporary facilities.

With this project, ACCIONA reinforces its position as a leader in the construction of major international infrastructure projects, leaving a legacy that combines innovation, sustainability, and technical excellence.
