- ACCIONA will connect with commercial and industrial buyers in the Schneider Electric-moderated NEO Network, broadening the array of opportunities and helping speed the transition to clean, sustainable power
ACCIONA Energy and Schneider Electric today announced that the world-leading company in renewables has joined Schneider’s New Energy Opportunities (NEO) Network™, a growing community of forward-thinking organizations committed to buying and developing renewable energy and clean technologies around the world. The partnership will give the over 150 commercial and industrial companies that are NEO Network members access to a more diverse set of purchasing options to meet their sustainability targets. It will also help ACCIONA streamline the expansion of its portfolio.
“Joining NEO Network is an important, strategic, global initiative for ACCIONA,” said Santiago Gómez Ramos, ACCIONA Energy Management Director. “The Network’s centralized range of services and extensive market reach will help us accelerate our renewable energy offerings for corporations. And, as a result, we should be able to fast-track projects. A development that might have previously taken three years to engineer, finance and build now has the potential to be online in a year.”
ACCIONA owns and operates more than 9,000 megawatts of renewable capacity in 15 countries, which generates over 20 terawatt-hours of green energy a year, enough electricity to power almost 93-million square meters of large office space — the equivalent of 13,000 regulation football fields. Additionally, the company has over 1,000 MW under construction in wind and solar PV. The company’s exclusive focus is sustainability; for four consecutive years, it has been named the greenest electric utility in the world by Energy Intelligence, an independent energy market consultant.
The global partnership between ACCIONA and Schneider Electric is timely, as corporate procurement of renewable energy breaks year-over-year records, in both established and new markets. In 2018 alone, commercial and industrial organizations contracted for more than 8.7 gigawatts of large-scale offsite renewable power purchase agreements (PPAs) across 28 countries.
NEO Network was launched in 2016 by Schneider Electric Energy & Sustainability Services, the world’s largest corporate renewable energy consultancy. ESS has advised clients on more than 4.5 gigawatts of large-scale renewable PPAs throughout North America, Europe, Asia and Australia. NEO Network serves the needs of more than 150 multinational corporations and solution providers in these regions, with the objective to accelerate renewable and cleantech decision-making.
“This partnership is an exciting milestone for both companies and is indicative of NEO Network’s global influence,” said John Hoekstra, Vice President of Sustainability and Cleantech Services for Schneider Electric. “As ACCIONA propels renewable energy development forward, we will deliver the intelligence and connections that give the business community the confidence to increase the pace of their sustainability efforts — good for their bottom lines, local and global economies, and the planet.”
Through NEO Network, ACCIONA will gain access to market reports alongside increased reach and exposure to the corporate buying community, enabling the company to innovate and advance renewable energy transactions worldwide.
Complimentary membership in NEO Network is available to qualified corporate buyers via the recently announced Accelerator Access program, and to renewable energy and cleantech solution providers via subscription. To learn more about NEO Network, visit NEONetworkExchange.com.
