ACCIONA Energía has developed an electric vehicle charging solution that prioritizes renewable self-consumption charging and optimizes efficiency in the supply and cost of electricity. With this solution, the company expands its offer to corporate and institutional clients to support in their decarbonization goals.

ACCIONA Energía's Green Smart Charge solution offers customers charging installations controlled by a self-developed management platform. The platform uses predictive energy consumption models based on massive data processing. In this way, it optimizes the charging process by selecting the optimum sequence based on four variables: time available and percentage required for charging; consumption peaks of the installation that feeds the charging point; electricity price at any given moment; and availability of self-consumption. Through this specific process, ACCIONA Energía prioritizes the use of 100% clean renewable electricity.

The company has launched a pilot project for this technology in three market segments: shopping and leisure centers; business and industrial complexes; and vehicle fleets. The initiative will allow ACCIONA Energía to model service patterns in different configurations according to the use of corporate and institutional clients for their own electric vehicle fleet or for general public use.

"We have identified that our customers are looking for complementary formulas to advance in terms of decarbonization and efficiency. At ACCIONA Energía, we offer 100% clean electricity supply and a professionalized self-consumption model. The low-emission and cost-efficient electric charging service is an added value for corporate clients in transport logistics and in their commitment to sustainability," says Belén Linares, ACCIONA Energía's Director of Innovation.

The Moraleja Green shopping center, managed by SAVILLS AGUIRRE NEWMAN , is one of the users participating in the system's pilot project. The mall, located in the north of Madrid, offers an electric vehicle charging service to its customers. "The value of the Green Smart Charge charging station for us is that it guarantees a better balance between costs and efficiency without compromising the quality for the user," says José López-Guerra, manager of Moraleja Green.

The pilot deployment of Green Smart Charge will also be carried out in-house, at ACCIONA Energía's facilities in Madrid and in the company's own fleet of vehicles.

ACCIONA Energía has collaborated in the development of this new smart solution alongside startup BIA POWER, within its open innovation program, I'mnovation.
