Construction of the São Paulo Metro Line 6 Orange — the largest infrastructure project underway in Latin America, carried out by ACCIONA — has reached important milestones throughout 2025 and now stands at over 77% completion.
One of the main achievements of the year — in this public private partnership between the Government of the State of São Paulo and the Linha Universidade Concessionaire — was the completion of excavation for the 15.3-kilometer tunnel that will connect Brasilândia in northern São Paulo with the city center in about 23 minutes.
In addition, work is underway at the 15 future stations and 18 ventilation and safety shafts (VSEs). The permanent track installation for the first operational phase, from Brasilândia to Sesc Pompeia, has also been completed.
Among the stations with the highest levels of progress are Água Branca (92.41%), Perdizes (89.56%), and Santa Marina (89.34%). Meanwhile, the Morro Grande Yard — the future line’s operations and administrative center — has reached 93.79% completion. In total, 14 stations have more than 50% of their construction completed.
Another key milestone was the start of platform screen door installation at six stations (Brasilândia, Santa Marina, Água Branca, Sesc Pompeia, Perdizes, and Freguesia do Ó). A total of 720 devices — 48 per station — will be installed. Escalator and elevator installations have also begun at several stations, including Brasilândia, Santa Marina, Água Branca, and Freguesia do Ó, as well as at the Morro Grande Yard.
In 2025, five of the 22 trains that will operate on the line were also delivered. These units are currently at the Morro Grande Yard undergoing testing.
On the social front, the project continues to positively impact surrounding communities. Female representation in both the workforce and managerial positions remains strong, with more than 900 women employed — nearly 18% of the total workforce. Since construction began, over 159,000 hours of professional training have been completed across nearly 160 different courses, with more than 2,000 certificates issued and recognized by the Ministry of Education (MEC). Another major achievement has been the creation of 120 jobs linked to the use of electric vehicles, combining income generation with sustainable practices.
The first phase of Line 6 Orange — from Brasilândia to Perdizes — is scheduled for delivery by late 2026. The second phase — from PUC Cardoso de Almeida to São Joaquim, including the Maristela station — is expected to be completed by late 2027.
With a committed investment of more than BRL 19 billion, the Line 6 Orange project is a public private partnership (PPP) between the Government of the State of São Paulo and the Linha Universidade Concessionaire (Linha Uni). The works are being carried out by ACCIONA and are generating over 10,000 jobs. Once completed, Linha Uni will operate the line for 19 years.
