  • The 549-hectare plant has a peak power output of 225 MW and is connected to the Peruvian transmission grid at the San José substation (220 kV)

ACCIONA´s Infrastructure division has finished building the Sunny I photovoltaic plant for Kallpa Generación, a Peruvian electricity company. The plant is located in the district of La Joya in Arequipa, Peru.

ACCIONA has executed this project—in line with its goal of decarbonizing the planet and promoting employment linked to renewable energy—under a turnkey model. Construction was completed one month ahead of schedule, marking a significant achievement for the project.
The plant has a surface area of 549 hectares and has a peak power of 225 MW. It is connected to Peruvian transmission grid at the San José substation (220 kV).

It has 371,040 high-performance bifacial panels and is designed to produce 611GWh of clean electricity per year, enough to power 547,000 homes, reducing emissions by 215,000 tons of CO2 per year.

EXPERIENCE IN THE SECTOR

The company has extensive international experience developing large photovoltaic solar plants for itself and third parties. It has installed more than 2,952 MW in nine different countries.

Notable projects include the Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park (Phase III) photovoltaic power plant in Saih Al-Dahal, located approximately 50 kilometers south of Dubai, which has a peak capacity of 1,054 MWp, and the Sishen plant in South Africa’s Northern Cape Province, which has a capacity of 94 MWp.

The company also built El Romero Solar in the Atacama Desert in Chile, one of the world’s largest plants with 246 MWp of capacity. This plant can produce energy equivalent to the consumption of 240,000 households.
