• Enviromental regeneration: The facility will treat wastewater and discharge it into the sea free of pollutants.

ACCIONA has completed the construction phase of the Pachacútec Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) in the Ventanilla district of Lima, Peru. It is part of the third stage of the ‘Drinking Water and Sewerage System Expansion and Improvement Plan’ of the Pachacútec Macroproject sponsored by SEDAPAL

The construction work was completed in November 2023, within the deadlines established with the client. This was followed by the start-up of this large-scale project, which will purify wastewater to discharge it into the sea free of pollutants.

ACCIONA will operate and maintain the WWTP for a period of 12 months from February this year, following commissioning tests.

The Pachacútec WWTP consists of two main elements: the treatment plant itself and the discharge of treated effluent into the sea through an underwater outfall. The discharge point is located on the coast at Pachacútec (north of Lima).

Various authorities have visited the plant during the construction and commissioning period, representing the Board of Directors and the Project Team of the Lima Water and Sewerage Service (SEDAPAL), as well as the Pachacútec Supervisory Consortium (CSP) and the Comptroller General of the Republic.

In parallel to the construction work, ACCIONA has carried out a series of social programmes aimed at the local population as part of the project's Social Impact Management system. The company thereby seeks to contribute to the protection of the environment, improve the quality of life of people living near the plant, and meet the requirements of the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
