- The future metro line reaches a new milestone after covering nearly 3,000 kilometers during testing
ACCIONA is moving forward with the commissioning of trains for São Paulo’s future Line 6-Orange metro line. The trains have already surpassed 1,200 hours of testing and completed nearly 3,000 kilometers of test runs.
The new line will connect the Brasilândia district, in the north of the city, with São Joaquim Station in the city center, improving connectivity and significantly reducing commute times for thousands of people every day.
The 10 trains currently stationed at the Morro Grande depot remain in the testing phase. These tests include technical trials, static and dynamic testing, and operational simulations under real-world conditions to ensure that all systems are operating properly before the trains enter service.
The stainless-steel trains can carry up to 2,044 passengers and reach speeds of up to 80 kilometers per hour. Once the line is fully operational, it will have a total of 22 trains and serve around 633,000 passengers per day.
Thanks to this new infrastructure, travel times will be reduced from up to 90 minutes by bus to approximately 23 minutes by metro.
The first phase of the line, connecting Brasilândia and Perdizes, is scheduled for completion by the end of 2026. The second phase, between PUC-Cardoso de Almeida and São Joaquim, which includes Maristela Station, is expected to be completed by the end of 2027.
