  • The work will target existing efficiency and connectivity issues and increase station safety and accessibility

ACCIONA has been awarded the contract for the complete refurbishment of Grisén railway station (Zaragoza).

The project, tendered by ADIF, has a budget of €18.2 million and is financed by the Recovery, Transformation and Resilience Plan of the European Union’s NextGenerationEU funds. The aim is to enhance the operational capacity and functionality of the railway facilities by providing a solution to the current efficiency and connectivity shortcomings.

To succeed in this task, ACCIONA will install new features (rail, sleepers and ballast) and track equipment, modernise the electrification system and reconfigure the track bed and its layout, which will ultimately increase traffic speed and reduce journey times between Madrid-Navarre/Basque Country/La Rioja.

Meanwhile, the platforms will be widened in order to meet safety and accessibility needs, the lighting installations will be relocated and the height of the platforms will be raised. In addition, a new central platform will be created and the existing level crossing between platforms will be replaced by a new fully equipped underpass.

The new Grisén station is expected to be up and running by August 2026.
