Last October ACCIONA carried out the operation to launch the underwater pipeline of the Pachacútec Wastewater Treatment Plant (Peru), completing 77% of the work on the project.
ACCIONA is responsible for the construction of the project, its entry into service and the operation and maintenance of the plant for one year. The facility will provide a service to 200,000 people. The Company has also carried out a series of initiatives in the surrounding communities such as health education, information on the project and the cleaning of Playa Cavero beach, among other things.
The rate of progress in work on the plant demonstrates ACCIONA’s commitment to the environment, as thanks to the recovery of waste products during the construction phase it has managed to reduce CO2 emissions by more than 1.2 million tonnes, equivalent to 436 trees, almost 1.3 million KWh of electric power, nine thousand litres of oil and 438 m3 of water.
On the social side, more than 1.3 million hours have been worked without accidents and women make up 25% of the labour force working on the project, the aim being to help to protect the environment, people’s health, and the sustainable development of the community.

The next actions to be implemented will the creation of the electrical installations of the plant, its automation, and the drilling of the underwater tunnels to install piping on the seabed.
