  • The company has organized a series of awareness-raising activities and risk prevention workshops aimed at all plant employees.

ACCIONA has held an Occupational Health and Safety Week programme at the Fouka seawater desalination plant in Algeria. Over seven days, workers have participated in activities and workshops with the aim of raising awareness around occupational health and safety among everyone involved in the project.

The activities included debates on improvements to the plant to preserve workers' health, workshops and talks given by specialists on occupational risk prevention and the celebration of 'Family Day', in which the families of employees were invited to visit the facility and carry out various activities.

In 2011 ACCIONA was awarded the contract to design, build, operate and maintain the Fouka desalination plant located at Wilaya de Tipaza, about twenty kilometers west of Algiers. The plant, which uses reverse osmosis technology, has a treatment capacity of 120,000 m3/day, guaranteeing water supplies to 800,000 residents in the area.
