• This pilot project has become the first experience at national level in the construction sector in which a generator set with these characteristics is fully operational

ACCIONA has acquired a GEH2® zero-emission hydrogen fuel cell generator set, becoming the first infrastructure company in Spain to incorporate this type of equipment into its assets.

The purchase of this equipment, developed by EODev, comes after several months of testing in the extension works of the Centennial Bridge in Seville, where the company was able to validate the reliability of this innovative technology as a substitute for the traditional use of diesel generators.

This pilot project has become the first experience at national level in the construction sector in which a generator set with these characteristics is fully operational.

After analyzing the data obtained during the test period, it was confirmed that thanks to this technology, the annual consumption of fossil fuel would be reduced by more than 9,000 liters, avoiding the emission of around 25 tonnes of CO2 into the atmosphere. Having purchased this first piece of equipment, ACCIONA’s objective is to promote its use on national and international construction sites where it is needed.

This makes ACCIONA the first Spanish construction company to use this type of zero-emissions technology on a construction site, in line with its goal of reducing the environmental impact of its projects and decarbonizing its construction sites. The adoption of new technologies and solutions to support this commitment is a top priority for the company and one of the biggest challenges in the construction sector.
