Jaime Díaz, business development manager for the concessions business in North America, took part in a panel discussion at the event entitled “Why do a P3? Building the business case and selling it to the community”.

ACCIONA took part in the P3 Higher Education Summit virtual event from 28 to 30 October, organised by the Association for the Improvement of American Infrastructure (AIAI) for universities and companies interested in the public-private partnership model (“P3”).

During the event, Jaime Díaz, business development manager for ACCIONA’s concessions business in North America, took part in a panel discussion entitled “Why do a P3? Building the business case and selling it to the community”.

During his talk, Jaime Díaz advocated public-private partnerships to develop initiatives for improving infrastructures in the field of education, as well as the need for a stable legal framework and strong political commitment to attract the best companies and investors.

The importance of a long-term vision and defining a project taking into account its entire life cycle were also among the key issues examined by the panel, in addition to the importance of innovation and sustainability, and the role of the client in defining the risk structure and the specific goals of a project, which must be clearly conveyed to the private consortium.

This edition of the P3 Higher Education Summit largely focused on analysing potential solutions for the recovery of the university sector following the health crisis, examining the key challenges and designing potential strategies to tackle this situation.
