  • The 300-meter extradosed cable-stayed bridge will be a vital link in the railway line, relieving existing traffic congestion and improving travel efficiency

ACCIONA has begun construction of a 300-meter extradosed cable-stayed bridge in San Fernando (Pampanga, Philippines). The bridge is part of the second section of the Malolos-Clark railway line, which the company is building together with its Korean partner DL E&C.

To celebrate, ACCIONA and its partner participated in a ceremony with the client, which was attended by Rubén Camba, ACCIONA’s director of Infrastructure in Southeast Asia. “The start of construction of this bridge, which will be a vital link in the rail system, is another step towards our goal of providing millions of Filipinos with a safe, modern, efficient, and sustainable rail system,” said Eduardo Macabulos, Assistant Secretary for Railways at the Department of Transportation (DOTr).

The new bridge will relieve traffic congestion, improve travel efficiency, and contribute to reducing carbon emissions, aligning with the country’s overall sustainability goals. Construction is expected to be completed in August 2027.

Once finished, the Malolos-Clark rail line will be essential infrastructure for mobility in Metro Manila and a priority project for the Philippine Department of Transportation (DoTR). It will reduce the travel time between Manila and Clark International Airport to one hour and prevent the emission of 60,000 tons of CO2 per year.
