The extension work represents an increase in capacity of the plant up to 51,840 m3/day, supplying a total of 150,000 people.

The construction work means an extension of the existing plant to a capacity of 51,840 m3/day, with improved treatment techniques for the water and the sludges generated in the process.

This project is one of the priorities of the Government of Galicia in the area of hydropower, in which it is essential to act to guarantee both the environmental recovery of the water, productivity in the seafood sector and tourism activity, with the priority aim of complying with the discharge limits set by the European Union.
