ACCIONA applies innovation to the operation and maintenance of the La Almunia de Doña Godina WWTP, improving wastewater treatment for the Valdejalón area.

La Almunia WWTP has led to major improvement in the quality of the water discharged, a 15% reduction in sludge production, optimized flow recirculation and the use of energy in the aeration process has been reduced to a minimum. The WWTP also has its own energy strategy to reduce carbon emissions, through the use of renewable energies.

Different interconnected technologies and processes have been incorporated to configure a more efficient and autonomous urban wastewater treatment plant.

The measures applied include state-of-the-art probes in the different wastewater treatment processes, and technological resources based on the Internet of Things (IoT), Information Technologies (IT) and Operational Technologies (OT) have been incorporated to optimise operation and maintenance.

With a capacity of 99.8 kWp, the 165-module PV plant is expected to generate around 155.6 MWh/year. Its entry into service is part of the company's commitment to renewable energies in its operational facilities and asset maintenance, intending to minimise its carbon footprint.
