Operation and maintenance of two wastewater treatments plants in Madrid Getafe, Spain See on Google Maps
ACCIONA is responsible for the operation and maintenance of the Wastewater Treatment Plants (WWTP) of the Cuenca Baja and Cuenca Media-Alta of the Arroyo Culebro of Canal de Isabel II, SA. Built at the end of 2000, both facilities are responsible for treating the wastewater produced in six municipalities in the Madrid metropolitan area. The contract will have a duration of five years and will represent a total turnover of almost 35 million euros. It incorporates technological advances which will benefit 2.5 million inhabitants

The Arroyo Culebro Cuenca Baja WWTP applies sludge co-digestion processes by which it increases its normal electricity production by 40% to treat wastewater from the municipalities of Getafe, Pinto, and Fuenlabrada.

The Cuenca Media-Alta del Arroyo Culebro WWTP treats wastewater from Leganés, Fuenlabrada, Humanes and Parla.

It has an advanced tertiary treatment system, the latest in Europe, which, by means of processes such as ultrafiltration and reverse osmosis, is capable of supplying 12,400 m3 per day of high quality reclaimed water.

This WWTP also has a wastewater reclamation station (ERAR) at its facilities, which is capable of sending reclaimed water for the irrigation of parks and gardens to the municipalities of Getafe, Fuenlabrada, Parla, Humanes, Alcorcón and Pinto, and, in the future, also to Leganés and Rivas-Vaciamadrid
