The Bello WWTP in Medellín is the first wastewater treatment plant that ACCIONA has built in Colombia, awarded by EPM (Empresas Públicas de Medellín). The plant benefits more than 3.8 million people and has a capacity of 432,000 m3/day.

The objective is to bring the river above the dissolved oxygen levels that are accepted worldwide as indicators of decontaminated rivers, allowing for the recovery of riverbank spaces that can be used for recreation and urban and landscape development.

The plant treats wastewater from the municipalities of Medellín and Bello that reaches the plant through the Bello Interceptor before being discharged. The plant receives some 120 tons of organic matter daily from industrial, commercial, and residential wastewater.
