CLEAN, NON-POLLUTING ENERGY
Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all
1 in 8 people still do not have access to electricity. In order to ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all, it is necessary to increase the use of renewable energy from 25 % today to 38 % in 2025.
ACCIONA is positioning itself as a key player in addressing the growth in energy demand while curbing the progress of global warming and promoting the transition to a decarbonized energy model.
Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts
The generation and use of energy is responsible for 74 % of total greenhouse gas emissions in the world. This activity is the largest contributor to global warming. Investment in renewable energy, energy efficiency and other low carbon technologies will continue to be essential to meet the new needs of humanity and to minimise their negative impact on the environment.
ACCIONA considers the fight against climate change and its related effects to be a strategic priority. The Company is working to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions in order to contribute to the progress of society and respond to the main challenges of sustainable development in the areas of infrastructure, water and energy, leading the transition to a low-carbon economy.
With 192 MW installed, the Waubra wind farm is the biggest operated by ACCIONA in Australia and one of the ones with the highest capacity implemented by the company worldwide. Located in the south-east of the country in the State of Victoria, it has 128 wind turbines of ACCIONA Windpower technology (1.5 MW each). It produces energy equivalent to the demand from around 110,000 homes, avoiding the emission of around 650,000 metric tons of CO2 to the atmosphere from coal-fired power stations.
ACCIONA has invested over $1 million AUD in community groups and initiatives over the 10+ years that the wind farm has been operational.

DOCUMENTATION AND MANAGEMENT PLANS
Technology and innovation
TURBINE FOR LIFE
Project that contributes to increasing the useful life of wind turbines, to knowing the status of the fleet and detecting anomalous behaviors to optimize the management and costs of operation and maintenance of the assets.
For the analysis of the remaining life of the structural components, we work on developing physical models. For the prediction of failures in Acciona's wind turbines we are working on two lines: the development of WindBrain® to detect anomalous behavior, and the use of Machine Learning to identify failure patterns in wind components.
COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT AND SHARED BENEFITS PROGRAM
ACCIONA is committed to improving the social and economic platform of the region and sharing the benefits of the project as widely and equitably as possible.
Waubra Wind Farm has a Shared Benefits Program comprised of three initiatives:
- Sponsorship program
- Scholarship program
- Community benefit fund
