Boost sustainable socio-economic development

The primary goal of the Tren Maya is to boost sustainable socio-economic development in the region and its communities.

The project will significantly improve the infrastructures and services for residents in the region and the more than three million tourists that visit it every year.

 

Construction of 60.3 km of electrified double track. Trains will be able to reach a maximum speed of 160 km/h. A seven-kilometre railway viaduct in Playa del Carmen, as well as a range of actions for the fauna in the region along the entire route.

 

The construction phase, which will last for 31 months, will create more than 3,000 direct and indirect jobs. The consortium will be responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of the infrastructure for a period of 51 months following construction.
