ACCIONA has been responsible for the design, construction and commissioning of the seawater desalination plant in Jubail. The construction of this plant doubles the combined capacity provided by the city’s five existing desalination plants.

The plant supplies 570,000 m³/day of desalinated water using reverse osmosis, cementing this technology’s position as the most efficient and sustainable, with the lowest carbon footprint. The project includes storage tanks for daily production, as well as a solar power plant to reduce electricity consumption from the grid. The contract also includes the construction of 58 kilometres of power lines, a substation and the associated marine works.

This batch of plants from Marafiq will meet the water needs not only of the city of Al Jubail, but will also be able to supply other parts of the Eastern Province of Saudi Arabia.
