The generation and use of energy accounts for 35 % of total greenhouse gas emissions in the world. This activity is the largest contributor to global warming. The company works to mitigate greenhouse gas emissions in order to contribute to the progress of society and respond to the main challenges of sustainable development in the areas of infrastructure, water and energy, leading the transition to a low-carbon economy.
The Fouka plant is a reverse osmosis desalination plant located in Wilaya de Tipaza, a few kilometers west of Algiers. The water produced by the plant supplies the Tipaza area and the western part of Algiers through existing networks. The desalination plant guarantees water supply to a population of 800,000 inhabitants. Construction began in April 2008.
The catchment of sea water is carried out through the open intake system. The pre-treatment includes sand and cartridge filtration, as well as chemical dosages.
