The project proposes solutions for real-time water quality monitoring, early detection and localization of leakages, energy optimization

SMARTWATER4EUROPE project is an initiative supported by 21 European partners and the European Commission through the Seventh Framework Programme for Research and Development (FP7, GA 619024).

The objective of the project is to incorporate the water supply concept to the smart city concept and to demonstrate several technological solutions in some European cities, each of them with different characteristics and water problems from the management and supply point of view. The goal is to develop an integrated solution that can be easily implemented in other cities.

The project proposes solutions for real-time water quality monitoring, early detection and localization of leakages, energy optimization of the distribution network and improving the interaction with consumers. The project has taken place in the cities of Leeuwarden (The Netherlands), Reading (United Kingdom), Lille (France) and Burgos (Spain). The water business of ACCIONA has coordinated the activities in Burgos, in the so-called SWING demonstration site (Smart Water Innovation Network in the city of Burgos).

The actions have been carried out in:

  • Leeuwarden (Netherlands)
  • Reading (United Kingdom)
  • Lille (France)
  • Burgos (Spain)

ACCIONA's Water business has coordinated the activities carried out in Burgos, in the demonstration site called SWING (Smart Water Innovation Network in the city of Burgos).
