An Asset of Cultural Interest

Creating a new terminal with three passenger tracks and improvement of two freight tracks, as well as restoring the building constructed in 1928 to be converted into a hotel.

The station, declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 2002, is a symbol of the railway history of Spain and France thanks to the international line that connected both countries during the 20th century. It was inaugurated by Alfonso XIII in 1928 and was in operation until 1970.

The project included:

  • Restoration of the 1928 building for conversion into a luxury hotel with more than 100 rooms.
  • Creation of a new terminal with three passenger tracks and a usable area of more than 950 m2.
  • Upgrading of two additional 1.6-kilometre-long freight tracks.
  • Urbanisation of the 13-hectare area for housing, shops and hotel services, maintaining the same railway aesthetics.
