Novel solution to optimize the reverse osmosis desalination process

POIROT Project goal is to develop a new device to easily detect operational deviations in the RO desalination process.

The information to be provided by the device will be the basis for a decision-support tool that will allow early identification of RO elements potentially damaged.

Response times can be reduced from weeks to one single day, allowing minimizing the number and duration of the stops, avoiding unnecessary replacement of functioning assets and ensuring that faulty components are replaced before reaching critical condition. Altogether, clients and citizens will receive a better service.

POIROT project (PLEC2021-007876) is funded by the Spanish Ministry of Science and Innovation, through the Spanish Agency for Innovation (MCIN/AEI/10.13039/501100011033), and the European Union through the NextGenerationEU/PRTR Programme. It is being developed at ACCIONA Water Technology Centre in Barcelona (Spain), in cooperation with the Spanish Research ORganisation NAITEC.
