The EFLUCOMP project aims at developing innovative treatment systems by the integration of technologies which enable the diminishment of costs related to the management and treatment of complex wastewaters.

In particular, the water business of ACCIONA leads the task dealing with high metal containing wastewaters. For such purpose, flotation, oxidation/reduction, precipitation and/or adsorption processes will be combined. A decision support System (DSS) capable of selecting the optimal treatment scheme based on the incoming water quality, effluent quality requirements (discharge or reuse), minimising the chemicals’ and energy consumption and maximising the water yield will be developed. It is expected that the solutions developed within the project will lead to a 20% decrease in energy consumption and 10% diminishment in reagents’ needs compared to the current treatment processes.

The project started in July 2017 and will last until December 2020. The project partners are ACCIONA, Fundació CTM Centre Tecnològic, Aplicacions de la Catàlisis (Aplicat), FCC Aqualia, Aguas Industriales de Tarragona S.A. (Aitasa), Procesos Técnicos Medioambientales (Protecmed), Desarrollos ecológicos Industriales S.A. (Deisa), Fundació Institut Català de la Recerca (ICRA), Universitat Rovira i Virgili (URV) and Acondicionamiento Tarrasense (Leitat). EFLUCOMP is cofunded by the European Regional Development Funds from the European Union in the framework of the FEDER Operative Programme from Catalonia 2014-2020 (Comunitat RIS3CAT).

EFLUCOMP is co-financed by the European Regional Development Funds of the European Union under the ERDF Operational Program of Catalonia 2014-2020 (RIS3CAT Community).
