ACCIONA has been awarded the contract for the design, construction and operation, and maintenance. Once completed, this plant will benefit 150,000 people in the districts of Arraiján Cabecera, Burunga, Nuevo Emperador, Veracruz, Juan Demóstenes Arosemana, Santa Clara, Cerro Silvestre and Vista Alegre.

The new facility will produce 114,000 m3 of drinking water per day in its first phase, although its design foresees a future expansion of the infrastructure to 227,000 m3. It will be equipped with the latest technologies in water treatment, automation and control and will incorporate an ozone oxidation system, a novelty in the country. Tanks with a storage capacity of 18 MG (68,000 m3) will be built to guarantee a continuous supply and a network of more than 25 kilometers of 60" cast iron piping.

ACCIONA is also responsible for the design, construction and operation for three years of all the components that make up the WTP: intake, adduction line, treatment plant, storage tanks and pipelines.
