ACCIONA completed a 1.4-km extension to Line 5 of the Barcelona Metro between Horta and Vall d'Hebron, as well as the construction of a new station, El Carmel, the adaptation of the current headshunt at Horta station as a tunnel line.

The project's features include the construction of the subway station caverns using lateral galleries, pile-driving operations used on a non-circular section, the construction of the station accesses using the traditional method of ramps in sections of up to 70 m, and a number of shafts of up to 60 m deep and 16 m in diameter in an urban area.

 

In addition, the interior installations and architecture were carried out simultaneously in three stations, along with their corresponding access points.
